The UEFA EURO2020/2021 was scheduled to take place last year and rescheduled to this year-2021-due to the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic across the world, kicked off in Italy yester night having the host, Italy take on Turkey is their Group A duel having Italy score three goals past Turkey without a reply. The Group A is made up of Italy, Turkey, Denmark and Finland.

The second match in the group between Denmark and Finland started with each team poised to make a mark in their encounter. An unfortunate incidence happened which saw Denmark’s Christian Eriksen fell unconscious in the 43rd minute.

Referee Anthony Taylor sensing danger took just seconds to react to Christian Eriksen's fall and called the medical team on instantly. Denmark’s captain Simon kjaer ensured Eriksen didn't swallow his tongue when he was unconscious, gave him CPR, told the squad to form a protective shield around him, to salvage the situation and spectators from freight and tension that would have risen. He was put on oxygen by the paramedics and immediately rushed to hospital.

A photo of the Danish player Christian Eriksen, who collapsed in the first half of his country's game with Finland, showed him alert, head up and alive.

The Danish FA Director, Peter Møller confirmed to Danish television that Christian Eriksen spoke to the rest of the Danish squad from his hospital bed and confirmed he is okay which was seen as a huge relief to football fans around the globe. UEFA also confirmed that Eriksen is stable and receiving further treatment.

It was reported that Eriksen had a Facetime call with his teammates from the hospital and asked them to continue the game tonight, as “he feels better now”. Danish players were emotional returning to the field to resume their match following their compatriot’s collapse earlier in the day. The game between Denmark and Finland has been restarted after it was temporarily suspended following the incident in which Denmark lost to Finland to a goal. Denmark had a soft penalty which they missed causing their defeat.

We hope Christian Eriksen recovers and continues to add to his 108 caps for Denmark. We are relieved to hear Christian Eriksen is awake and stable. Get well soon Christian!
