Coup De'tat_Guinea's President Overthrown





Special Forces in Guinea led by the President's own bodyguard Colonel Mamady Doumbouya have seized power in a coup, arresting the President Alpha Condé and promising to change the political makeup of the West African country.

Amidst the coup d'etat in Guinea, one interesting thing that surprised the world was the fact that, the man who led military to take over government was the President' s right hand man. Information from local news reporters in Guinea indicates that, Colonel Mamady Doumbouya who personally recruited by the President from France and made him his trusted bodyguard. The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies and The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies.


Moreover, the special forces that did the damage was President Alpha Condé's personally trained military. President Alpha Condé created the special forces from elite military men and appointed Colonel Mamady Doumbouya to head the squad. Colonel Mamady Doumbouya after arresting Alpha Condé said " We are no longer going to entrust politics to one man, we are going to entrust politics to the people, " Guinea is beautiful. We don't need to harass Guinea any more, we just need to love her" he said flanked by armed soldiers.


Condé was the country' s first democratically elected leader. During his time in office, Guinea used its rich natural resources to improve the economy, but the bulk of the country' s population has not felt its effects. In 2020, Condé changed the constitution to allow him to secure a third term, but with controversy. Dozens of people were killed during demonstrations against a third term for Conde, often in clashes with security forces. Hundreds more were arrested all resulting to the 5th September 2021 coup.
