CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Real Madrid pip Chelsea in Quarter_final Second Leg.



Chelsea were drawn against all time UEFA Champions League titles holders, Real Madrid in a two legged encounter.

The first quarters were played at the current champions league winners backyard at the Stamford Bridge in London a week ago which saw the Spanish giants win the leg by 3_1 with Karim Benzema scoring a hattrick headed goals with a consolation from German wonder boy_Kai Havertz.

The return leg was played yesterday Tuesday 12th April at the multi-million dollar Santiago Bernabeu stadium. With Chelsea going into the 2nd league with a three goal deficit, they looked poised to redeem their image at the Bernabeu. 



Chelsea took the lead to score 3 unanswered goals through Mason Mount in the 15th minutes, Antonio Rudiger in the 51st minutes and Timo Werner in the 75th minutes which too the aggregate to 4_4. After trailing 3-0 at home, Real Madrid pulled two goals back to secure a 5-4 aggregate victory despite losing 3-2 in the return leg at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

Karim Benzema and Rodrygo, once again spoiled Chelsea's comeback by netting 2 goals in the extra time to put the Spanish giant back into the semis of the 2022 UCL.

The last two Champions League winners_ Chelsea and Bayern Munich_are out - beaten in the quarter-finals 2nd league.

Villarreal stunned six-time European champions Bayern Munich to reach the UCL semifinals for the first time in 16 years through Nigeria winger, Samuel Chukwueze's 88th-minute goal that salvaged a 1-1 draw and a 2-1 aggregate victory.

Real Madrid will face either Manchester City or Atlético Madrid who play on Wednesday night.
