Football World Mourns Pelé.

The greatest player of the 20th century as named by FIFA, the legendary Brazilian Edson Arantes do Nascimento, Pelé, passed away today, December 29, 2022. The Brazilian was 82. One of the greatest of all time who changed the game. A man with a god-given talent, one of the names who will remain forever in the memory. Pelé, winner of a record 3 World Cup in 1958, 1962, and 1970 and has been the standard-bearer for the beautiful game.

As prolific as he was, he won his maiden world cup trophy at age 17. The “football King”, Pele, is the youngest scorer, youngest hat-trick scorer, youngest finalist, and youngest player to score in a final in World Cup history. His achievement in football was unprecedented.

Pele was diagnosed with colon cancer in September 2021 and was hospitalized at Albert Einstein hospital, on November 29 for three weeks in Sao Paulo, where he watched Brazil’s quarter-final match against Croatia which got eliminated from the Qatar world cup.

Today, the world has lost one of its greats who made football, an interesting one to witness. It is two years since we lost another great, Diego Armando Maradona in 2020. Pele is recorded to have said, “one day, I hope we can play ball together in heaven” and unfortunately, his wish is granted. The world mourns indeed!

All thoughts with the family. RIP, legend, GOAT 🕊️🙏😔
