The Ayew Brothers Quit Black Stars

Andre Ayew and his brother Jordan Ayew have allegedly opted to leave the Ghanaian national team, according to information obtained by footballghana. The Ayew brothers, as they are affectionately known, have played an important role in the Black Stars’ success over the previous decade. Despite the fact that they have been responsible for some of the most crucial goals for the national team throughout that time period, they have often been criticized by Ghanaians when things do not go well for the country’s football team. Following a dismal performance by Ghana in the 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cameroon, rumours emerging late on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, say that both Andre Ayew and Jordan Ayew have opted to retire from international football. Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has made it emphatic that its Executive Council has fired Black Stars head coach Milovan Rajevac Vis-Ă -vis he technical staff.

Kenya launches the first locally designed electric bus in Africa

Kenya has launched the first locally designed and produced electric bus in Africa. According to the manufacturer, local engineering talent and local manufacturing partners were utilized in the whole process. This is a good step towards the fight against major climate concerns. The Manufacturer, Opibus indicated that, the newly produced bus will sell at a significantly lower cost as compared to the importation of same electric cars from outside the country.  This is meant to draw more market and value for money. Akufo-Addo Donates Ghc200k To Bogoso Explosion Victims

President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo has donated 200,000 cedis to support persons affected by Thursday’s explosion at Apeatse near Bogoso in the Western region. This was revealed by Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as he visited the victims of Thursday’s disaster. The Vice President visited the relief centre with an entourage of some ministers of state and presented some food items, mattresses among others. Earlier they toured the town to assess the impact of the explosion. Dr Bawumia disclosed that the President has directed the State Housing Corporation to visit the town and subsequently build houses for the affected victims. Meanwhile, the Police has appealed to residents around the mining explosion site in the Bogoso area to vacate the area to nearby towns for their safety. Gas Explosion Claims Scores of Lives At Apenti, Bogoso_Western Region

Reports trickling in from the Western Region has it that over 100 people have lost their lives following a gas explosion that occurred at Apenti, a suburb in Bogoso in the Western Region. According to reports on Onua FM this afternoon by a journalist, the accident was caused by a Fuel Tanker Truck overtaking on the road. The overtaking is said to have caused the fuel tanker truck to capsize, resulting in a tremendous explosion. This happened at a gas station as well. As a result, one can imagine the type of explosion. The number of deaths, according to the reporter, is estimated to be in the hundreds. Authorities are currently on their way to the scene in order to maintain law and order. The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu has served strong notice to the Paramount Chief of Dormaa, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II. Otumfuo speaking at the first meeting of the Asanteman Traditional Council, stated that he will not allow the authority of the Asantehene be undermined under his watch. “It is not in my time. If you say you are a man, I am also a man. If that is how it will be then we will face-off. I can’t talk anyhow because I was brought up well. I was brought up well so I talk with decorum. If chieftaincy has been bestowed on you and you don’t have sense calm down and let’s address issues on the tenets of history,” the Otumfuo fumed. The comment by the Asantehene comes on the back of a recent outburst by the Dormaahene accusing the people of Ashanti of twisting history in their favour. Comoros sends Ghana out of AFCON

The Ghana Black stars have been pipped from the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament ongoing in Cameroon after a shocking 3-2 loss to tournament debutants Comoros in our final fixture on Tuesday evening. Comoros startled Ghana with the first goal in the fourth minute and team captain, Andre Dede Ayew got sent off after going in hard on the Comoros goalie after a rebound.  The Black Stars equalized in the second half but with 10 men, but Comoros had the advantage and scored a winner.  This is the second time since 2006 the Black Stars has fallen out of the group stage.

"I DON'T LIKE GOING TO CHURCH"

Despite being an Evangelist, actor Majid Michel says he does not like going to church. In an interview on Joy FM ’s The Reason is Jesus on Sunday, he explained that he hates waking up early to get ready for church service. “I have never liked going to church. I am not a churchgoer because I hate waking up in the morning. Since I was young, my siblings teased me about it. [When] I was in church, I am like ‘mum I want to eat bread and egg’. It [the service] is too early and I never ever in my entire life enjoyed church, and I still don’t,” he told the host, Fifi Folson. Majid added that there were times he did not understand the sermons and the teachings being taught at the church. “My problem was, I never understood, what they were teaching, and this was what created the hunger as I grew up. GCB BANK LIMITED CHANGES TO GCB BANK PLC

A press release issued by GCB Bank was to officially inform the general public and stakeholders that the corporate name of the Bank has been changed from GCB Bank Limited to GCB Bank PLC as per a resolution passed by the shareholders of the Bank at its Annual General Meeting on 25th March, 2021 and subsequent publication of the new name on the 1st November, 2021 in the Commercial and Industrial Bulletin No 48 on page 406. The change was mandated by the coming to force of the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992) section 21 (b) which directs the last words of the corporate name of public companies limited by shares to be Public Limited or the abbreviation PLC. The corporate name is therefore GCB Bank PLC, and as such going forward the Bank shall be referred to as GCB Bank PLC in all future publications and contracts with third party providers. However, by section 21 (14) of Act 992, the change in name shall not affect the rights or obligations of the company or render defective legal proceeding

GHANA, THE MOST PEACEFUL COUNTRY IN WEST AFRICA

Ghana has been ranked the most peaceful country in West Africa. The country is also ranked second peaceful country in Africa and 38th globally in the 2021 Global Peace Index report by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP). This is the 15th edition of the Global Peace Index which ranks 163 countries according to their level of peacefulness. The report presents the most comprehensive data-driven analysis to date on trends in peace, its economic value, and how to develop peaceful societies. Mauritius, the most peaceful country in Africa, while Botswana ranked third place in Africa. Nigeria ranked 146 globally behind Togo, Uganda, Kenya, The Republic of Congo, and Cameroon.
