Akufo-Addo Renames University of Development Studies, Tamale after the Late Former President_J.J. Rawlings




At the final funeral rites of the deceased former leader of the country, President Akufo-Addo in his tribute announced that an agreement had been reached with the family of Mr Rawlings to the effect that the University for Development Studies in Tamale be named after him.

“Two days after his passing, at the 21st Congregation of UDS, I expressed my strongest convictions, in spite of his reservations, that such an honour should be accorded him. I am glad that this has found favour with his family, and the necessary formalities will be carried out to achieve this, that is: The Jerry John Rawlings University of Development Studies, Tamale.”


President Akufo-Addo announced on Wednesday at the Independence Square.

Fomena MP joins NPP Caucus in Parliament

The Independent Member of Parliament for Fomena who is also the 2nd Deputy Speaker, Andrew Asiamah Amoako, has officially communicated to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon. Alban Bagbin notifying him of his decision to reunite himself with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus in Parliament. This brings to bear that the NPP is most likely to constitute the Majority in Parliament pending results of the series of court actions the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has initiated against some Parliamentary seats which were won by the NPP in the December 7, 2020, general elections.
