Burial Date For Ex-Prez J.J. Rawlings Announced




The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has confirmed that the burial of the late former President of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings will take place between 24 and 27 January 2021 in Accra.


The news which was enclosed in a report dated January 8 was relayed to the Diplomatic Mission in the country to remind them of the new development.

Detailing what will take place with regards to the burial, the notice issued by the Ministry indicated that Mr. Rawlings will be laid-in-state from 24 to 26 January 2021 at the aisle of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) from 9 am to 5 pm daily.


The Anlo Traditional Council objected to the earlier date scheduled because they were not consulted neither were they involved in the plan of the funeral.

The ex-head of state died on Thursday, 12 November 2020 at the Korle Bu Teaching hospital after a short illness.

Alban Bagbin notifying him of his decision to reunite himself with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus in Parliament.
